Roma loses 2-1 to Sevilla
The AS Roma team, with Mexican defender Héctor Moreno, lost 2-1 against Sevilla, who ended up winning the Antonio Puerta trophy in honor of the deceased player.
The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuan stadium saw the return of sports director Monchi, who signed several Sevilla figures in recent years, but is now on the Italian side and was responsible for bringing Moreno from PSV Eindhoven to Roma.
Sevilla won the friendly trophy, the ninth in their history, since it is held in honor of the midfielder who lost his life in 2007 due to a cardiopulmonary arrest while defending the Sevilla shirt.
This Thursday, the Sevillian team achieved victory thanks to goals from Sergio Escudero in the 73rd minute and recent signing Nolito in the 90th minute. Meanwhile, La Loba made the match exciting with a goal from Bosnian Edin Dzeko in stoppage time (90+1).
Sinaloan defender Héctor Moreno was a starter in coach Eusebio Di Francesco's lineup and played well for 66 minutes when the match was still tied.
After that, with a flurry of substitutions, the Mexican national team player made way for Argentine Federico Fazio. Moreno Herrera formed the central defensive duo alongside Greek Konstantinos Manolas.
In this way, after also playing in the International Champions Cup in the United States, Roma finished their preseason and will begin the Italian League against Atalanta next week.
