The Sao Paulo announced on Wednesday the signing of international midfielder Anderson Hernanes, who returns to the club seven years after leaving the country.
"With the dawn of a new day, the prophecy came true: Sao Paulo fans, Hernanes is back," announced Sao Paulo on social media, along with the hashtag "the prophet is back."
Hernanes, 32, joins Sao Paulo from the Chinese club Hebei Fortune, where he joined in February of this year from Juventus Turin.
Formed in Sao Paulo, where he became an idol for the fans and won the Brazilian league in 2007 and 2008, Hernanes left the Brazilian club in August 2010, after playing over 200 matches, to sign with the Italian club Lazio, where he played for 4 seasons.
Later, he played two and a half years in Inter Milan and a year and a half in Juventus Turin, with which he won the double in the 2015-16 season by winning the league and the cup.
A full international with the Brazilian national team, with which he won the Confederations Cup in 2013 and was called up for the 2014 World Cup, Hernanes arrives as a major reinforcement for Sao Paulo to try to escape from the relegation zone in which the team is currently immersed.
