Pepe to sign contract with Besiktas

Pepe, former Portuguese international central defender of Real Madrid, will arrive in Istanbul today to sign a contract with Besiktas, as reported by the newspaper Hürriyet.

The aforementioned newspaper indicates that the Turkish club, current league champion, was able to clarify the final details of the agreement with Pepe and will have the defender in their squad next season.

According to reports, Pepe will arrive in Istanbul this evening after the player and the club reached an agreement on some financial matters.

According to the sports newspaper Fanatik, the defender will sign a two-year contract with an optional third year, earning 4.5 million euros per season.

Pepe, born in Maceió (Brazil) in 1983 and Portuguese naturalized in 2007, was looking for a club after playing ten years for Real Madrid, crowned with three Champions League victories (2014, 2016, and 2017), among other titles.

The center-back is one of the captains of the Portuguese national team, the current European champion, and has 82 international appearances.

Pepe was linked with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), but differences with the French club regarding the duration of the contract prevented the signing.
