Uruguayan footballer Luis Suárez donates to flood victims

The star of Barcelona, Luis Suárez, donated over three thousand diapers, warm clothing, and food to his hometown of Salto, in the northwest of Uruguay, the most affected by the floods in this South American country.

This was announced today by the Municipality of Salto, which detailed that Suárez donated "over three thousand diapers, over a ton of sugar, cocoa, milk, blankets, and quilts."

The capital municipality of that department described the donation of the Uruguayan footballer, who is on vacation in Ibiza (Spain), as "very important."

"Once again, Suárez, prodigal son of these lands, knew how to show his solidarity and his authentic Salto side, providing answers to hundreds of families who suffer from the floods in our department," expressed the Municipality through its Facebook page.

The mayor of that department, Andrés Lima, thanked Suárez's support, with whom he had a meeting months ago.

"Usually, when these types of donations are made, it is preferred to keep it anonymous, but it is good that the people of Salto know about Luis' support for his homeland," said the official.

Salto is the department most affected by the floods, which have displaced 6,885 people from their homes.
