MID-2016: THE CURSE OF GABIGOL
In mid-2016 the name Gabriel Barbosa sounded louder than Gabriel Jesus. The former is known as 'Gabigol' and stole the attention of several clubs in the 'Old Continent'.
It was speculated back then that Gabriel Barbosa was on the radar to be the striker who would compete with Luis Suárez. However, he ended up going to Inter Milan for 30 million euros.
For that amount of money, it was thought that his signing would be worth it. It was all a big mistake. He turned out to be a flop, having scored only one goal in ten games. Furthermore, he remained injured for a long time. On the contrary, his friend Gabriel Jesus found success at Manchester City and was called up by Tite to join the 'verdeamarelha'.
Now Inter Milan does not want Gabriel Barbosa anymore. The new coaching staff, led by Luciano Spalletti, is looking for a way for 'Gabigol' to leave the club partially. This way, the management can recoup some of the money spent on his signing.
The only possibility for the former Santos player is a loan. One of the most interested clubs is Las Palmas, from the first division in Spain.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the sports director of the 'canarian' team is in the city of Milan to finalize the loan of the Brazilian forward.
If this operation is completed, Gabriel Barbosa will have a second chance in European football with a team that can adapt to his style of play. Everything is in his hands.
