Germany dominates San Marino with a predictable and overwhelming victory (7-0)
Germany strengthened its journey towards the 2018 World Cup in Russia with a predictable and overwhelming victory (7-0) against San Marino. England rescued a point in Scotland in the 93rd minute (2-2) and Poland reaffirmed its group leadership with three goals from Robert Lewandowski, the same number of goals scored by Stevan Jovetic with Montenegro.
The current world champion is an unstoppable leader in Group C, with six matches, six victories, 27 goals for, and one against. San Marino was the latest victim of their performance. The gap between them is abysmal, as demonstrated in their duel in Nuremberg, which was resolved with the expected resounding victory for Germany: 7-0.
From the 11th minute, when Julian Draxler opened the scoring with 1-0, the team coached by Joachim Low added six more goals (three from Sandro Wagner, one from Amin Younes, one from Mustafi, and one from Julian Brandt). They are one of the two teams that have won all six rounds, the other being Switzerland, whose qualification is more closely contested. Germany, on the other hand, already has half of the ticket to Russia secured.
In second place behind the unstoppable German team are Northern Ireland, five points behind, who won in the 92nd minute in Azerbaijan with a goal from Stuart Dallas (0-1), and the Czech Republic, whose aspirations suffered a setback in their visit to Norway with a 1-1 draw that distances them from even the second place, now four points away.
