Several players from the Saudi Arabian national team did not respect the minute of silence in homage to the victims of the terrorist attack in London before the match they lost 3-2 against Australia in the qualifying round for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Moments before the start of the match, the referee of the game called for a minute of silence in memory of the eight people killed in the terrorist attack in London on Saturday.

At that moment, the Australian players gathered in the center circle, while several of the visiting players continued with their warm-up movements scattered around the field.

Only a few Saudi players stopped and placed their hands behind their backs.

Noticing the behavior of the visiting players, the Australian crowd reacted with whistles and boos.

What is not clear is whether the Saudi players were informed about the minute of silence or chose to avoid it on their own.

With the 3-2 victory, Australia caught up with Saudi Arabia and Japan with 16 points at the top of the tight Group B in the Asian qualification for Russia 2018. The top two teams in the group will advance to the World Cup, while the third-placed team will enter a playoff.
