Ultra-right candidate Marine Le Pen responds to Zinedine Zidane's criticism
Marine Le Pen, the ultra-right candidate for the French presidency, responded to Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane's criticism of her in the second round of the elections, in which she is facing Emmanuel Macron, the socioliberal candidate. She said that she was not surprised "considering how much he earns".
"Considering how much he earns, it doesn't surprise me," Marine Le Pen said in an interview with the television channel "BFMTV" when asked about Zidane's position in the elections.
"I suppose Zinedine Zidane has a lot of financial capital, that's why he is interested in Macron winning the elections and preserving the wealth he has obtained thanks to his talent," said the ultra-right candidate.
She believed that Zidane has shown that he knows a lot about football, but not about politics.
The former French international made an appeal to "avoid the maximum" influence of the National Front in the second round of the presidential elections on May 7th.
Zidane explained that he is "in complete disagreement" with "all those ideas of the National Front", and that "they must be avoided at all costs" because "extremes are never good".
Macron, who finished first in the first round, is the favorite in the polls against Marine Le Pen for the second round of the French presidential elections.
