Footballer Marc Batra injured in explosion near Dortmund team bus
Spanish footballer Marc Batra, who plays for German club Borussia Dortmund, has been injured after three explosions occurred near his team's bus. The bus was on its way to the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal against Monaco, confirmed the German club.
In a statement on Twitter, the team informed that Batra is currently in the hospital and wished him a speedy recovery.
According to local media reports, the Spanish player suffered an arm injury when the bus windows shattered.
José Bartra, father of Borussia Dortmund player Marc Bartra, confirmed to Efe that his son is admitted to a hospital in Dortmund, where "he is currently being accompanied by his girlfriend".
"We don't know the extent of the injuries. It seems to be something on the arm, possibly from the shattered glass. We hope to receive more news soon," emphasized the footballer's father.
Borussia Dortmund also announced that the match has been suspended, while the local police reassured fans via Twitter that there is "no indication of danger" for those attending the event.
