The recent weekend's legendary goal has not been scored in a soccer stadium, but in one of the boardrooms at the headquarters of Latina in Jesus Maria (Lima). The television station has just made a big move by securing the broadcasting rights of our league for the next five years, after reaching an agreement with the current owner of these rights, Gol TV.
“The Descentralizado was the missing piece of the puzzle to complete our sports offering, which has recently included the Olympics, volleyball, and the Pan American Games,” highlights Luciana Olivares, Strategy and Content Manager of Latina, exclusively for Día1. Although the television station will provide details about its agreement with Gol TV today, Olivares has revealed to our supplement the core of the negotiation, which took a few months.
In order for Latina to broadcast, alongside Gol TV, the Descentralizado matches during the next five years, they had to offer a $15 million agreement that implies not only the payment for acquiring the broadcasting rights, but also the investment in a lineup of four programs dedicated to soccer that will accompany and exploit the contents that the tournament will leave: La Previa, El Show de Goles, Pasión por el Fútbol, and Máster del Deporte. “Gol TV was looking for a true partner with passion and commitment for the development of its property and that's what we are bringing to them,” points out Olivares.
The television station will start airing these programs from Sunday, April 16, and will begin broadcasting the championship as it is on Sunday, April 23 of the same month. According to Olivares, the concept of "soccer for everyone" will be crucial to fulfill the channel's renewed mission: “to be an agent of social change to make citizens happier.”
QUALIFIERS
As you may remember, the entertainment company already has the broadcasting rights of the Confederations Cup and the 2018 World Cup in Russia. What's next? Olivares says they are playing their cards “with their leg up”. “We want it all,” she adds, and doesn't rule out that the transmission of the upcoming pre-world cup qualifiers may be included in that plan.
They are also preparing a strong digital presence to accompany these broadcasts, she concludes. “The Descentralizado was the missing piece of the puzzle to complete our sports offering,” highlights Luciana Olivares.
30% of what Latina will invest will go into sports programs.
