Atletico Madrid plans for the future

Although still in the fight for a coveted title like the Champions League and with timid options to compete for the League championship, the board of Atletico Madrid is already dedicating a significant amount of their time to planning for the upcoming season.

In this regard, the club is following the guidelines provided by Diego Simeone. The coach has identified various shortcomings throughout this season and has not hesitated to request the signing of up to four new players: a center-back, a midfielder, a right winger, and a striker.

Out of all of them, the priority signing is undoubtedly a new defensive midfielder who can cover the seemingly inevitable absence of Portuguese player Tiago. According to Cadena SER, both Brazilian Fabinho (AS Monaco, 23 years old) and Slovenian Kevin Kampl (Bayer Leverkusen, 26 years old) are the two players that Cholo likes the most in this position.

For the right winger and the attack, the names that are gaining strength again are Canarian Vitolo (Sevilla) and Uruguayan Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain), respectively. Finally, no names are mentioned for the defense, but it is indicated that the club would not be opposed to selling Jose Maria Gimenez, a player who has lost prominence this season.
