Oasis legend Noel Gallagher might be known as one-half of the UK's biggest rock bands, but he's got stern words for anyone who calls him English.

During the 2024 Euros, he had a blunt response when asked a soccer question. City clinched a 3-1 win over West Ham during the tournament in May, securing their fourth consecutive league title.

Gallagher, a staunch City supporter, joined the post-match celebrations on the pitch. In the midst of the trophy-laden celebrations, a BBC journalist asked Gallagher if Foden could replicate his club form in the upcoming summer tournament in Germany. Gallagher's response was clear: "I'm not an England fan, I'm Irish."

The rock star has strong Irish roots, with his mother Peggy hailing from Co Mayo and his father Tommy from Co Meath. Speaking about his Irish heritage, Noel has been quoted as saying: "We are Irish, me and Liam, pretty much," adding, "There is no English blood in us.."

Reflecting on the deep cultural roots of one of Britain's most iconic bands, Oasis frontman noted: "Oasis could never have existed, been as big, been as important, been as flawed, been as loved and loathed, if we weren't all predominantly Irish."

In football developments, Manchester City's Manager Guardiola praised his squad's extraordinary achievements after they snatched another Premier League crown, marking a historic four straight wins. This season's triumph saw them pipping Arsenal to the post by just two points.

After securing his sixth league title with City since joining in 2016, Guardiola expressed his respect for their challengers to Sky Sports: "The first words for Arsenal, Liverpool as well but especially Arsenal to push us to another level."

He lauded the remarkable season, aware that rival teams like Arsenal signify stiff competition for years ahead, saying, "Especially this one has been an incredible season. We get the message, so I know they will be there for many years because young manager, big talent, and a young squad. They sent us a message that we have to be careful for the next years but today is a day to celebrate."

Guardiola mused on the dazzling run he's had with Manchester City: "If I landed here and the people tell me in the next seven years, you're going to win six Premier Leagues, I would say, 'You're insane, it's not going to happen'. It happened."

As speculation about his future with the club continues, he vaguely suggested he might stay beyond his current deal which ends after next season, admitting: "The reality is I'm closer to leave than to stay. It's eight years, will be nine."

"Right now my feeling is I want to stay next season. We talked with the club, we have time to talk next season because I have to see the players as well, if they follow me, they follow us."
