Graeme Souness will be back on TV screens this summer.
The Scot, who left Sky Sports last May, returned to television to provide analysis on Manchester United's dramatic 4-3 victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup back in March. He also worked on England's friendly win against Scotland at Hampden Park earlier in the season, and has regularly appeared on talkSPORT.
Now, Souness has been signed up by ITV for Euro 2024 and will start with the opening game of the tournament between Germany and Scotland on June 14, according to The Sun. Souness will provide analysis alongside Joleon Lescott, Jill Scott, Eni Aluko, Joe Cole, Karen Carney, Ian Wright, Gary Neville and Roy Keane for ITV at the Euros.
ITV are set to broadcast 16 group matches, including the first three. They will show England's final group fixture against Slovenia before having the picks one, two and three of the Round of 16 as well. ITV will televise arguably the most highly-anticipated group encounter between Spain and Italy.
Souness never formally retired from punditry and said he is "still very much open for business" after he left Sky. The 70-year-old confirmed his exit from the broadcaster following Liverpool vs Tottenham at the end of last season and could not hold back the tears in his announcement.
Speaking about the decision, an emotional Souness said at the time: "I'm going to miss you guys, the guys behind the scenes, our make-up girl, I'll miss you all. You know, for me, I decided that football management wasn’t for me any more. I had the wrong temperament for it, the wrong personality.
"And then I was given the opportunity to do this and it’s been magnificent. It’s just been the most fantastic time for me, because I love football, I care about football and I worry about it going forward.
"But in Sky’s hands it’s in good hands, safe hands, and I think over the years we’ve created a Premier League with great detail and I think we look after football very well."
Souness has also previously argued that there is too much scrutiny on pundits and vowed not to give up on his scathing opinions in the modern game. He told The Telegraph: "I will never retire.
"I will be retired when the phone stops ringing. I know we have to be very careful with what words we choose now, but you must be as honest as you possibly can, consistently. And just be real. That is becoming more and more difficult for the guys who are doing it now."
