In the latest edition of the MTV VMAs, Anitta won in the Best Latin Video category. However, the news was not pleasing to Mia Khalifa and she showed it on Twitter. In the end, she attacked the Brazilian singer and defended Karol G, who was nominated.

"Karol G was robbed. I'm sorry. But the girl is filling stadiums; any other decision than rewarding her is purely political to appeal to a wider audience that MTV is trying to reach", she stated.
