Steve Cooper remembered they learned a lot from Keylor Navas during their time at the Tricky Trees
Despite only being in Nottingham Forest for six months, Keylor Navas left a positive impact within the club, as recognized by coach Steve Cooper in a press conference on Thursday.
The coach was asked about the influence that players like Keylor Navas (Champions League winner) and now Gonzalo Montiel (World Cup winner) can have on the group and if they can instill a hunger for success in figures like Brennan Johnson, whose future is widely speculated.
Cooper said he hopes so and that in Keylor Navas' case they were able to learn a lot from him:
"I hope so, it's always good to have examples of what can be achieved in football and if it's shared in the dressing room and the games played together, you can see what it takes to get there. We learned a lot from Keylor last year in terms of his dedication to his profession and his humility," he commented.
He even emphasized how a goalkeeper who had won three Champions League titles and many other trophies had so much commitment to achieve Nottingham Forest's objective, which was to secure their place in the Premier League.
"Despite what he had achieved, he was a really good guy and put the team first above all," he added.
Keylor Navas played a total of 17 games for Nottingham Forest, and despite the challenges along the way, they achieved the goal of keeping the club in the Premier League. And although the Costa Rican did not stay, Steve Cooper holds strong gratitude towards him, who is now back at PSG.
