Spain secured their place in the final of the Women's World Cup, the first in their history, in an electrifying finish to their match against Sweden, whom they defeated 2-1 with goals scored in the final stretch of the game.
Forward Salma Paralluelo gave Spain the lead in the 81st minute with a right-footed shot after a cross from Jennifer Hermoso.
Rebecka Blomqvist equalized in the 88th minute, but a minute later, left-back Olga Carmona restored the advantage for the Spanish team in a dramatic closing of the match.
"La Roja" became finalists after a brilliant campaign in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, leaving behind rivals such as the Netherlands and Sweden, ranked third in the FIFA rankings, who arrived in Oceania with a favorite status to lift the trophy.
The other finalist will be determined on Wednesday in Sydney between Australia and England.
