In an interview with Felipe Cárdenas for The Athletic, the 34-year-old forward expressed his desire to retire in his own way and at the right time. He also acknowledged that he can no longer deceive himself thinking that he will play for many more years, and each season he evaluates his body and mind to continue in the sport he loves. The captain and number 10 of LAFC also spoke about his decision to leave the Mexican National Team, indicating that he wants to finish his career at a high level and not be forced to retire due to physical limitations.
