Arsenal was winning 2-0, but Liverpool reacted and almost turned the score.
Arsenal let a two-goal lead slip away against Liverpool (8th) and ended up with a 2-2 draw. This reduces their lead at the top of the Premier League table to six points compared to Manchester City, who also have a game in hand.
The Brazilians Gabriel Martinelli (8) and Gabriel Jesus (28) put Arsenal ahead in a brilliant first half that promised a big win for the London team. However, Liverpool reacted and equalized with goals from the Egyptian Mohamed Salah (42) and the Brazilian Roberto Firmino (87).
Salah also missed a penalty (54) that could have given Liverpool the victory.
Mikel Arteta's team let two points slip away, which could prove decisive in the title race. City, who thrashed the bottom-placed Southampton 4-1 on Saturday, is now only six points behind (73 to 67).
However, Pep Guardiola's team still has a postponed match (on May 3rd against West Ham) and before that, on April 26th, they will face Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium in a match that could determine the championship.
In the other Sunday match, Leeds were heavily beaten 5-1 at home by Crystal Palace (12th) and are still two points above the relegation zone. AFP
