Viernes 03 de Febrero del 2023

Klopp's team fails to lift their heads and they add their fourth game without a victory.

Liverpool lost 3-0 to Wolves in matchday 22 of the Premier League 2022/2023 at Molineux Stadium. Joel Matip (5'), Craig Dawson (12'), and Rúben Neves (72') secured the victory for the 'Wolves'. With this result, the home team moves away from the relegation zone, currently sitting in 15th position with 20 points; while the 'Reds' remain exactly in the middle of the table with 29 points.

Wolverhampton is currently in 17th place with 17 points, only separated by goals from Bournemouth and two points behind Everton and Southampton, the three teams currently in the relegation zone.

Liverpool faces the match after being eliminated from the English Cup. A great goal from the Japanese Kaoru Mitoma allowed Brighton to eliminate the reigning champions (2-1) in the round of 32. Jürgen Klopp's team took the lead in the 30th minute with a counterattack goal from Harvey Elliott, who was decisive in the previous round against Wolverhampton (1-0), but they failed to maintain control of the game.

The 'Reds' have already been eliminated from the domestic cups (FA Cup and League Cup) and in the Premier League they are in ninth place, 21 points behind leaders Arsenal, so their chances of winning the title are practically nonexistent.

The only consolation of being able to achieve a title at the end of the season seems to be the theoretically more difficult one, the Champions League, where Klopp's team faces a highly demanding challenge in the round of 16 against Real Madrid (1st leg: February 21, 2nd leg: March 15), the defending continental champions.
