Jack Harrison to Leicester transfer update as 'work to do' on deal

The latest Leicester City transfer news on deadline day as the winger has emerged as a target for City in the final day of the January transfer window.

Leicester City have ‘work to do’ to seal a January deadline day move for Leeds United winger Jack Harrison, according to reports.

City are closing in on their third signing of the January window with Stoke City defender Harry Souttar set to undergo a medical with the club after City agreed a £15 million fee for the Australia international. If everything goes as planned, then he will join fellow January arrivals Victor Kristiansen and Tete at the King Power Stadium.

As well as completing a deal for Souttar, Brendan Rodgers is keen to add a further attacking player to his squad ahead of the 11pm deadline. One of the targets to be named is Leeds United’s Jack Harrison, with City ‘pushing’ for a deadline day deal.

City are said to have made a £20 million bid for the former England U21 international. Leeds are also reported to have softened their stance over a potential deadline day exit.

But, according to the Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse , it’s the player himself that City have to convince to make the move. The journalist wrote on Twitter: “Leicester have work to do to convince Jack Harrison to join them. Leeds have never dismissed the idea of a sale but Harrison has never been entirely sure about it #lcfc #lufc”

Sky Sports also report that while City have not given up on a deadline day deal for Harrison, it is looking ‘increasingly likely’ that it won’t happen. The report says that City would struggle to pay the £25m asking price for the player due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Harrison has been with Leeds since joining on an initial loan deal from Man City in 2018. He has gone onto play a total of 186 times for the club, scoring 30 goals and providing 29 assists. His latest strike came in the weekend’s 3-1 FA Cup victory over Accrington Stanley.

One of the player’s reservations may be City’s current position in the league table. They are in 14th position in the league, one point clear of the relegation zone.

City are also only above Leeds on goal difference ahead of the weekend’s Premier League games. City travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa, with Leeds taking on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
