Roger Schmidt, Benfica strategist, came out in defense of Enzo Fernández and accused a powerful European team of unprofessionally confusing the Argentine footballer. "It is a lack of respect," he accused without mentioning the institution, which would clearly be Chelsea.

"We don't want to sell Enzo. There is a club that wants him, tempted him, but they know the only way is the €120 million release clause," the German coach clarified on Thursday at a press conference when asked about the possible transfer of his player to the 'Blues'.
"They are driving the player crazy. They acted like they wanted to pay the clause... then they want to negotiate," he added angrily. "It is a lack of respect for all of us, I cannot accept what they are doing."
Enzo Fernández, figure of the Argentine national team, world champion in Qatar 2022, still has a contract with the Portuguese team and can only move to another team with authorization from the 'Águilas'.
