Recess for the Qatar World Cup allowed the new directors of Chelsea to rethink the club's sporting structure. After Thomas Tuchel's departure due to poor results, the management hired Graham Potter to take on the role of head coach of the London team; but after two months in the position, he will take on a new role in an unprecedented mega project.
On the morning of this last Wednesday 21, Christopher Vivell was announced as the new head coach of Chelsea. The 36-year-old German left Leipzig and will take on the challenge at one of the biggest teams in Europe.
"Chelsea is building the most exciting project in world football and I am very proud to join the club. There is a lot of potential for the club to continue to succeed, develop, and grow. Under the new ownership, Graham Potter and the sports team in general, there is a clear and sustainable philosophy backed by performance analysis, data, and innovation, and I am looking forward to participating in that," he said to the club's social media accounts.

But what will happen to Graham Potter? The former Brighton coach will take on a new role rarely seen in professional football: head coach. This means that Potter will remain on the bench for the 'Blues', but accompanied by Vivell, who will be in charge of recruiting, signing players, and monitoring players from other categories of the club.
