CNN reported that the Iranian authority communicated with the team of players and through a meeting with the Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran (CGRI), they threatened them to 'behave properly' in the match they will face against the United States on Tuesday 29th.
This comes after the Iranian team decided not to sing the national anthem in the match against England, as a protest against violence and human rights violations in that country.
As a consequence, the families of the football players were notified and threatened with torture if this behavior continues and happens again on the last day of the group stage of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
According to CNN, the Iranian team is being escorted by several CGRI officers, who control their every move, and it is even prohibited for them to have contact with people outside the institution.
