On the eve of the England vs. United States match at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the British ambassador, Gavin Cook, bet the United States ambassador, Lisa Kenna, a bottle of London To Lima gin, in case the English team wins.
"This Friday our England team has a very important match against the United States team. It promises to be a very interesting match and I have a lot of faith in our team," says Gavin Cook in a video uploaded to his Twitter account.
Cook then stated that he bets a bottle of gin from London To Lima to the US ambassador.
"I bet an excellent bottle of London To Lima gin to the Ambassador of the United States (Lisa Kenna) in favor of England. Do you accept the challenge Lisa?" concludes the British ambassador in Peru.
The Ambassador of the United States, Lisa Kenna, responded to Gavin Cook's bet and, in case her team loses, she said she will learn how to make Shepherd's pie.
"I love a good challenge! If we lose, I will learn how to make Shepherd's pie. And if you lose, I challenge you to learn how to make pumpkin pie. What do you think? We will have a great match tomorrow! I'm sure both teams will give their all on the field," she wrote.
According to the London To Lima Spirits website, the gin drink "is made from Quebranta grapes, whose processing has been perfected for centuries for the iconic Peruvian brandy, Pisco".
"More than 50% of gin is water, so it must be the purest water you can imagine. To reach the necessary alcohol content, gin is usually diluted with distilled and deionized water after distillation," it reads.
England vs. United States
United States and England will face each other on Friday, November 25th in the second match of Group B of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The Americans come from a draw against Wales (1-1) and will seek their first victory against an English team that had no problems making a big debut in the first round against Sweden (6-2 victory).
The team led by Gareth Southgate will seek to secure a place in the round of 16 in the match that will be played at 2 p.m. (Peruvian time) at the Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar.
