The Spanish-Brazilian Diego Costa, former player of Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, returns to the Premier League by signing with Wolverhampton Wanderers, the English team announced on Monday.
The striker, who has not played an official match since December 2021 in Brazil, received a work permit a few days ago, after the English Federation initially rejected him due to his lack of activity, but Wolves appealed. He has now signed for the remainder of the 2022/2023 season.
Costa, 33, has already played in the English league at Chelsea, where he won two Premier League titles. The forward has undergone a medical examination with Wolves and will join Bruno Lage's squad, which has lost one of its signings this season, Sasa Kalajdzic, due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and also has Mexican forward Raul Jimenez with physical problems.

Diego Costa shared his expectations for his signing with Wolves and his return to the Premier League. "It is a first-class club with very good players who know how to play football, and having the opportunity to play in the Premier League again was the main thing for me. Obviously, the club influenced my decision, especially knowing that I will adapt much more easily here, not only from a technical point of view because of the quality of the players, but also because many of them are Portuguese, which will make my transition much smoother," commented the forward on the club's official website.

The striker did not hide the fear he felt during the presentation video in which he appears with wolves and mentioned that many thoughts crossed his mind. "I was terrified. Holding the chain, I couldn't stop thinking, 'What if this wolf decides to jump on me?'" he said.
Diego Costa revealed that he felt even more afraid when he saw that the wolves were not listening to their trainer. "Because the lady who trained them kept calling them, asking them to move a little, and the dogs, the wolves, did nothing. And I thought, 'If they don't do anything with the trainer, if they come...' When they came and smelled my foot, I knew I was done."
"Then I got a little scared. They were wolves, not dogs. It was a great experience, but not very comfortable. I have five dogs, but they are not wolves," he concluded.
