Brenden Aaronson has enjoyed his first preseason with Leeds United.
The USA winger featured in the friendly defeat to Aston Villa in Brisbane on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, Aaronson told LUTV: “It was good, you know.
“It was what we needed as a group, a tough game like this. Coming out here and having the fans we had today was really special.
“It was a good test for us, and now it is onto the next game against Crystal Palace.
“Every game that goes by, we're having more and more understanding of each other. A bunch of the guys are new that were out on the field today.
“We're building chemistry, connections, and that's what we need going into the season. I think there were a lot of great plays put together but then it's just the finishing touch, that will come."
The squad have also been working hard away from the pitch and recently held some team bonding activities, which is important ahead of a long campaign to come.
Aaronson said: “As everyone saw, we were surfing one day!
“We're having a good time and getting closer as a group, I already feel like I have been part of it for a year now.
“It's a crazy feeling to have that as a new player, they've been so inviting and so nice to me so it's great for all of us.
“I was not the best [at surfing], but I could at least get out there, I caught a few!"
