Amid the European preseason, Tottenham Hotspur keeps working tirelessly to arrive in the best possible state for the start of the Premier League. The team led by Italian coach Antonio Conte played their latest friendly match against Sevilla FC, where Colombian player Davinson Sanchez showed signs of confidence and regained the consideration of his coach.
The Colombian defender started the match as a starter, while Ben Davies, who usually starts as a regular in his position, watched the first half of the game from the bench. In the second half, Davies replaced the Colombian, but physical discomfort forced him to leave in the final minutes of the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw. For now, Sanchez is winning that particular battle, confirming that he still sees himself as part of the Spurs.
During an interview with Football.London, Davinson stated that every transfer window the situation is always the same. It is rumored that he will move to another team, but it is never taken for granted that he can achieve a better campaign with Tottenham:
"Every summer has always been the same. It's already my sixth season here and nothing changes... There are always possibilities, but the Premier League is the best league in the world and you have to be part of it if you want to compete with the best."
Sanchez has a contract with Lilywhites until June 30, 2024, and he is still seen as an important piece in the scheme planned by the Italian coach. Last season, he played a total of 23 matches with Tottenham, accumulating 1,625 minutes on the field, which he hopes to double in this new campaign.

The native of Caloto, Cauca, is one of the players who has demonstrated the best physical form in this preseason cycle. During the demanding physical test in which they had to run the distance of 42 full football fields, Sanchez was one of the leaders of the group and stayed until the end, even surpassing the club's references Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.
Regarding preseason preparation, Davinson mentioned that although it has been difficult, it has been necessary to get the team in shape for the upcoming season they will face:
"It's been tough, that's what preseason is all about. We have to prepare ourselves for a season in which we are trying to compete for all the challenges we have... We want to improve as much as we can, also looking ahead to the Champions League, which is a competition that everyone wants to participate in."
However, to always stay on Conte's radar, the Colombian will have to show much more than just being in good physical condition. The recent addition of French defender Clément Lenglet, from FC Barcelona, represents another 'rival' to dispute the starting position at Tottenham.
For Davinson, Lenglet's arrival is quite good, as it promotes healthy competition within the squad, in addition to being a figure with great experience who can help them in difficult times: "I like to compete, challenging myself with my teammates increases healthy competitiveness in the team. We always look for that, not just in my position. We have two players for each position and that's good... I'm even happier about his arrival because I have a good connection and relationship with him. He has a great personality and I know he will adapt well to the team."
