The Manchester United has reached an agreement for the signing of Argentinean Lisandro Martínez from Ajax Amsterdam for 57 million pounds (about 67 million euros).
The English club has confirmed that the agreement is pending a medical examination, closing some details with the player, and receiving a work permit in the United Kingdom.
The transfer, valued at 49 million pounds, includes 8.5 million pounds in bonuses and 2.2 million in payments to the clubs that trained Martinez.
Martinez has played 120 games with Ajax, the club he joined in 2019 from Defensa y Justicia in exchange for 6.3 million pounds. In addition, the defender has played seven games with the Argentine national team.
More signings for Manchester United
Martinez is the third signing of this summer market for United after the incorporations of Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia. The player knows the new coach of United well, Erik Ten Hag, with whom he has won two Dutch leagues and one Dutch Cup.
The Danish international midfielder Christian Eriksen (30 years old), free from any contract, has committed to Manchester United for three seasons, the English team announced on Friday.
"Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Christian Eriksen is joining the club, signing a contract until 2025," the 'Red Devils' explained in their statement about the arrival of the player who suffered a cardiac arrest during a Eurocup match in June 2021.
Since late February, Eriksen returned to the field with an internal cardiac defibrillator.
At the time of his cardiac arrest with the Denmark national team, Eriksen was playing for Inter Milan, but Italian regulations do not allow him to play with a defibrillator.
He then signed for Brentford in England for six months, where he helped them stay in the Premier League, scoring one goal and providing four assists in eleven games played.
