Best of the year
The Formula 1 experienced one of its best weekends with a historic Saudi Arabia GP, where nothing was missing; there were controversies, crashes, surprises, fights, and more. Lewis Hamilton took the first place in a thrilling race and Max Verstappen achieved second place. Check out the standings.
The British driver started in the first position in a competition that was interrupted several times: there were two red flags, a Safety Car, two Virtual Safety Cars, and some interventions from the FIA itself. Although his Dutch counterpart overtook him, he managed to recover in the last laps and reach the top of the podium.
In this way, Hamilton reaches 369.5 points, equaling Verstappen in the standings. He is only placed second because the Dutchman has won nine races, while the Englishman has won seven. This was the penultimate race of the season, so everything will be decided next Sunday, December 12, at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
However, these drivers were not the only ones who gave everything on the track, as Valtteri Bottas achieved third place in the last corner. The Finn overtook Esteban Ocon on the last lap, who had been among the top three for the previous 49 laps, but faltered at the end.
Five drivers retired from the race: Sebastian Vettel, Nikita Mazepin, Mick Schumacher, George Russell, and Sergio Perez. Precisely, the popular 'Checo' had the task of helping his teammate Max with the aces of the Mercedes team, but on lap 14, he collided with Charles Leclerc and had to retire.
