The best year of Jorginho's career

Jorginho's 2021 will be remembered as one of the best years of his career. The Chelsea midfielder won the UEFA Champions League in May as one of the key pieces of the blue team, as well as winning the 2020 European Championship with Italy, providing balance and versatility to the midfield of the Squadra Azzurra.

Awarded as the best player

These titles, added to his good performance on the field, made him the winner of the UEFA Best Player award in 2021 and a favorite for the Ballon d'Or. Although the Italian knows that he is one of the main candidates for the golden award, he also recognizes his rivals' talent. That's why he chose one of his favorites if he couldn't vote for himself.

"If I don't vote for myself, who would vote for me? I want to have at least one vote. Just kidding, I think I would vote for Kevin De Bruyne for the beautiful football he has shown in recent years. It's very nice to watch him play. He has above-average intelligence," said the 29-year-old player in an interview with ESPN.

Adapting to the English football

In addition, Jorginho also commented on how he adapted to English football after his arrival at the London team with Maurizio Sarri. "I have adapted my game to the Premier League. I have learned from the intensity and physicality. I adapted my style to it because I don't have enough physical qualities," he explained.

Finally, the former Napoli player talked about the change in his role models throughout his career in football. "I started with idols like Ronaldinho and Kaká, but a coach put me in midfield and I started learning from Pirlo and Xavi," he said.
