Shone with a great level! This Thursday, August 31, Diego Elías played his second match of the 2023-24 Squash season, precisely at the Paris 2023 PSA World Tour-Platinum, a tournament that started on August 27th and will end on September 2nd in France. On this occasion, our national representative stood out once again with a great performance, the same performance that helped him defeat the welsh player Joel Makin.
Elías won 3-2, with scores of (7-11, 11-5, 18-16, 5-11, 11-7, and 7-11), in a match that was full of emotions from start to finish. In this way, the current number 2 in the PSA ranking qualified for the semifinals of the tournament, where he will face Mohamed ElShorbagy.
It's worth mentioning that the 'Puma' also has other challenges in the current season, such as the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Even before representing our country in said event, he will participate in the Q-Terminals Qatar Classic (from September 9th to 16th in Qatar) and the US Open (from October 7th to 14th in the United States).
When does Diego Elías play again?
Diego Elías will return to action on Thursday, September 1st, to face Mohamed ElShorbagy. It is worth mentioning that, for the first time in history, the matches of our national representative will be broadcast for free on the Red Bull website.
Note that the previous season was the best of 'Puma's' professional career. After nine years competing in the world's elite of Squash, he reached the number one in the world ranking on April 17th. Today, he starts his tenth year on the Tour occupying the second position, focused on returning to the top of the discipline.
