The French sports press considers the signing of the Spanish forward from Real Madrid by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) almost closed, something that could be formalized in the coming days.

With the Ligue 1 title in the bag, Paris Saint-Germain is already preparing for the next season. Coach Christophe Galtier has already announced that Lionel Messi will play his last match at Parc des Princes this Saturday (live stream here), so PSG's executives have decided to bring in a replacement for the 35-year-old Argentine player. In that regard, the French sports press has almost finalized the signing of Marco Asensio, a move that could be formalized in the coming days. According to Le Parisien, which does not disclose its sources, the Real Madrid player has already given his approval.

The Spanish international (who has played 35 times for the national team) will end his contract with Real Madrid on June 30, after seven seasons with the club. He has not reached an agreement for an extension, which had been proposed by the club's officials last winter transfer window.

His decision to join PSG has been facilitated by the relationship between his agent, Jorge Mendes, and the sports advisor of the French team, Luis Campos, according to L'Équipe. The contract with PSG should be signed for at least four seasons.

Although there are some doubts about the club's financial margin considering UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules, the reality is that they will need to strengthen their attack, once Lionel Messi's departure is confirmed and the same could happen with Neymar in the coming weeks.

PSG's Round Deal

In this context, Le Parisien considers that signing Marco Asensio (at a reasonable price) could be a good deal for PSG, considering that at Real Madrid, with whom he has won the Champions League three times, he has never exceeded the role of a complement and has not become a true undisputed starter.

Particularly this season, he has shown "a certain effectiveness," since in the 50 matches he has played - mostly as a substitute - he has scored 12 goals and made eight decisive passes.

The newspaper recalls that the former Spanish coach, Luis Enrique - a name that is rumored as a possible replacement for PSG coach Christophe Galtier - said about Asensio a year ago that he was a "world-class player" and that his shot "only six players in the world have it". EFE
