A brace from Senegalese Habib Diallo gave a 2-0 victory to Strasbourg at the Meinau stadium against Nice, which falls behind in the European race of Ligue 1, while the local team takes a step forward towards salvation.

The second consecutive triumph of Frederic Antonetti's team provides them with three more points of relief with three matches left in the season. Strasbourg distances itself from Nantes, which is in the relegation zone and still has to play its thirty-fifth match.

Diallo made the task easier for Strasbourg by putting them in advantage on the scoreboard just one minute into the game. The African player beat Kasper Schmeichel after receiving a pass from Ibrahima Sissoko.

Nice, which had two consecutive victories and had regained its chances for European qualification, was unable to equalize the match and the hosts sealed the game at the one-hour mark. It was due to a foul inside the area committed by Jordan Lotomba on Jean Ricner Bellegarde. It was a penalty and Habib Diallo converted it.

With the victory, Strasbourg moves up to fourteenth position, while Nice remains eight points behind Lille, which occupies the European zone.
