Not only his coach defends him. Former French footballer Thierry Henry joins Christophe Galtier in defense of Lionel Messi, who suffered the whistles from Paris Saint Germain (PSG) fans before, during, and after the match against Lyon in the last round of Ligue 1.
"It is shameful to hear the whistles from the Parc des Princes. You cannot whistle at one of the best players on the team with 13 goals and 13 assists," said Henry, who was Messi's teammate at Barcelona.
He then went on to say that the 'Pulga' should not renew his contract with PSG as he would be better off in the blaugrana team that is interested in his return. "What I say is not news, it is a wish. Messi has to return to Barcelona for the love of football and because he did not leave as he should," he added.
Henry, who was a World Cup champion with France in 1998, explained that Messi succeeds in the Argentine national team where he is the absolute leader.
"In Argentina, Messi is their top leader and his teammates are willing to die for him, unlike what happens here at PSG, where there are three conductors (Mbappé, Messi, and Neymar) and each one plays their own tune." Finally, he said indignantly, "It's not the Montaigu tournament that Messi won!"
