This afternoon, Noël Le Graët has been temporarily suspended from his position following allegations of sexual abuse by workers of the French Football Federation. These terrible accusations are added to the multiple repercussions for the statements against Zinedine Zidane.
According to the Executive Committee of the FFF, "Noël Le Graët decided to step down from his position as President until the final communication of the audit conducted by the Ministry of Sports, pending analysis by the FFF's Comex", the 'galo' football entity said.
Le Graët was interviewed last Sunday by the RMC radio station, where he was asked about Zidane, whose name has been mentioned to take charge of the national team, and about the possibility of him opting to go and coach another club or national team.
"I don't care, let him go wherever he wants! He can go to a club...", he responded in a jocular and disdainful tone.
But he went further and when asked if he had spoken to Zizou, he said that if he had called him, "I wouldn't even pick up the phone", because he would have told him, "Hello sir, don't worry, find another club, I'm sticking with Didier".
Facing the allegations against leader Philippe Diallo, vice-president of the FFF, he will be in charge of the sports institution until the audit commissioned by the Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, is made public.
"The FFF deserves a president who allows for a good image of French football in the world," said government spokesperson Olivier Véran. Ahead of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, authorities have taken action to safeguard the image of the competition.
