M'Bami ganó la medalla de oro con la selección de su país en los Juegos Olímpicos de Sídney 2000

M'Bami won the gold medal with his country's national team in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Modeste M'Bami, former Cameroonian international footballer, passed away on Saturday, January 7th, at the age of 40 due to a heart attack, as reported by the French newspaper L'Equipé.

At the national team level, M'Bami won the gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, lost the final of the 2003 Confederations Cup against France with a goal from Thierry Henry, and participated in two African Cups.

He started his career at the Kadji Sports Academy in his country and then played for Dynamo de Douala before moving to Europe.

Modeste M'Bami wore the jerseys of the French clubs Sedan Ardennes, Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille, and Le Havre, the Spanish club Almería, the Chinese clubs Dalian Aerbin and Changchun Yatai, the Saudi club Al-Ittihad, and the Colombian club Millonarios.

The Cameroonian player won two French Cups with PSG (2004 and 2006).

"My friend, a former Cameroonian international footballer [...] passed away today," said player agent Franck Belhassen on Twitter.
