Official, Deschamps renews with France: until when did he sign a new contract?

Didier Deschamps' contract as the French national team manager has been extended until June 2026, announced the French Football Federation (FFF) on Saturday through social media.

Didier Deschamps' contract as the French national team manager has been extended until June 2026, announced the French Football Federation (FFF) on Saturday through social media.

The defeat of France against Argentina in the final of the 2022 Qatar World Cup was a very hard blow for the European team.

When the French were most excited about winning their third FIFA World Cup, Lionel Messi and the 'Scaloneta' appeared to crush their dream at the Lusail Stadium.

However, this has not prevented Didier Deschamps from remaining at the helm of the 'Rooster' team after it was decided to extend his contract until June 2026, announced the French Football Federation (FFF) on its website and social media this Saturday.

In a statement, the FFF and its president, Noël Le Graët, expressed their satisfaction in announcing the extension of the contract with Deschamps, who has been in the position since July 9, 2012. Above all, they highlighted his "exceptional" performance leading the national team, with 89 victories, 28 draws, and 22 defeats in the 139 matches played, with 279 goals scored and 119 conceded.

As for titles, with Deschamps in charge of the French bench, they won the 2018 World Cup, the 2021 Nations League, and reached the final in both the 2016 European Championship and the Qatar World Cup last year.

The French national team is currently ranked third in the FIFA rankings and has been among the top four for the past five years.

The FFF also announced that in addition to extending Deschamps' contract, they will also prolong the contracts of his assistant, Guy Stéphan, the goalkeeper coach, Franck Raviot, and the fitness coach, Cyril Moine.

Le Graët had made it clear that if France reached the semifinals in Qatar, he intended to renew the commitment with the coach, although the preferred end date was the 2024 European Championship.

Deschamps, who is 54 years old, wanted to remain in charge of the national team until the 2026 World Cup in North America, and that's what he has achieved.
