The selection of Morocco surprised at the Qatar 2022 World Cup and reached the semifinals, being the first African team to reach that stage in history. Now, the 'Lions of the Atlas' are preparing to face France and coach Walid Regragui defended the style of play that his team has shown.

"We will play as we know how to do it. There is ball possession, but it is extraordinary how another way makes you dream: 70% in the registry and you only shoot twice. And the XG (expected goals) too, because they say: 'We should have won, we had 4 XG!'. We are here to win, that's it", said the coach in a press conference.

In that sense, Regragui made a joke about ball possession: "Let's stop with the statistics. I will ask Gianni Infantino to add points to those who have more than 60% possession". Likewise, regarding the numbers, Walid expressed his hopes of being champion: "We had a 0.01% chance of winning the World Cup and now, are we at 12%? Praise be to God then".

"We came to change the mentality of our continent. Are we happy to be in the semifinals? I wouldn't be. I want to reach the final and I hope France doesn't respect us. It will be difficult if that's the case (fighting for the title)", added the coach of the Morocco national team.

Finally, Walid Regragui highlighted the commitment of his players and assured that he does not have a plan against Kylian Mbappé. "We trust Achraf Hakimi and the system. We want to reach the final and win. We are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve this goal. Tomorrow we will have extraordinary energy. To say that we are satisfied with reaching the semifinals does not suit us. It could be the only chance to be champions", he indicated.

"We are on a mission, we are not tired. I insist, tomorrow we will run, there will be no tiredness. We have an opportunity, I don't want to waste it. I don't want to wait 40 years. There are moments when you have to mark your territory, now is the time", concluded the coach of the Moroccan team.
