Without a doubt, the 2018 World Cup was one of the most memorable tournaments for fans of the Peruvian National Team. The bicolor, led by Ricardo Gareca, qualified for a World Cup after 36 years and had good performances against great teams like Denmark, France, and Australia. And while we didn't advance to the next stage of the tournament, FIFA remembered the performance of André Carrillo in the match against the French team.
Through their social media, the world's football governing body published a video of the Peruvian winger against France. As you may remember, 'La Culebra' was one of the standout players of the match, with a level of play that had everyone on their feet at the Ekaterinburg Arena.
"André Carrillo against the French National Team in Russia 2018," reads FIFA's publication. Furthermore, in the footage, you can appreciate one of the best plays by the Al-Hilal player on the right flank, an area of the field where he caused trouble for the French with his speed and power.
Specifically, the video shows Carrillo's one-on-one with Theo Hernández. The action took place in the 8th minute of the first half when the Peruvian forward surprised and left the AC Milan player completely powerless.
Peru confirms its next two friendlies
The preparation is not over, and the 'Ajedrecista' will have time to evaluate all his called-up players again. It has been confirmed that the Peruvian National Team will return to the field in November to face Paraguay and Bolivia, friendly matches as preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Note that Juan Reynoso has already had two tests at the beginning of his process, against Mexico and El Salvador.
"We already have the contracts practically closed, and we have scheduled to play in Lima, at the Estadio Monumental, with the Paraguay national team on November 16; and on the 19th, we are traveling to Santa Cruz - Bolivia to complete this doubleheader before the World Cup," said Agustín Lozano, president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF).
