Roland Garros Junior 2022 is underway and the Peruvian representatives started their participation on the right foot in doubles. This Tuesday, Ignacio Buse and Gonzalo Bueno had a remarkable performance in the mentioned category and advanced to the round of 16, after eliminating Belgian Gilles Arnaud Bailly and South Korean Gerard Campana Lee.

However, things were not easy for the national pair, as they started behind in the series. In the first set, the Peruvian defending tennis players lost the service twice, couldn't recover, and ended up with a 5-0 disadvantage, which was finally consummated with a 6-1 against.

Despite the tough blow, Ignacio Buse and Gonzalo Bueno didn't give up, came out with intensity in the second game, and showed their superiority on the scoreboard: they established a 0-3 lead. Although there were some ups and downs in the dispute of the following points, the Peruvians won by 3-6.

Due to the parity, the match had to go to a third set, which was played with the super tie-break, as indicated by the rules of the French Open. The final duel was for a score of 10, and the forces were even, but Gilles Arnaud Bailly and Gerard Campana Lee were the first to reach match point.

However, the Belgian and South Korean flag bearers did not take advantage of the match point on three occasions (they were 9-6), allowing the rival duo to come back. Ignacio Buse and Gonzalo Bueno finally won by 10-12, qualifying for the round of 16, where they will face Mexican Rodrigo Pacheco and American Cooper Williams (Wednesday, June 1, around 4:00 a.m.).
