Sergio 'Checo' Pérez showed off his best maneuvers in the final straight of the race and won the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. The Mexican driver expressed his excitement for this victory and acknowledged that the road was challenging at some points.

"It's a dream come true. One dreams of winning here from the beginning. After the home race, this is the one you want to win," he explained in statements to the press.

Similarly, the representative of Red Bull Racing dedicated his triumph to a special person who was a symbol of Mexican motorsport. "It's a very important day for me and for my country. Pedro Rodríguez (former driver) would be very proud of what we achieved today," he added.

After crossing the finish line, the racing driver waved the Mexican flag in front of the applause from his compatriots who supported him at all times. Then, he took off his helmet and thanked the gesture of the public.

Likewise, Sergio 'Checo' Pérez made an effort and left Carlos Sainz in second place, while the reigning world champion, Max Verstappen, finished third. Charles Leclerc finished in fourth place.

A race with delays

The appearance of rain ten minutes before the Monaco GP forced the delay of the start of the seventh race of the Formula 1 World Championship. The drivers lined up behind the safety car and finally the red flag was shown, so the cars returned to the pit lane.
