As in almost the entire season, Charles Leclerc had the best times in both practices on Friday, May 27 at the Monaco Grand Prix. In P1, the Monegasque driver from Ferrari set a time of 1:14.531, surpassing Red Bull driver 'Checo' Pérez (1:14.570) and his teammate Carlos Sainz (1:14.601).
In P2, Leclerc continued to lead and lowered the times compared to the first practice: 1:12.656. Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz was the second fastest (1:12.700) and 'Checo' Pérez completed the podium (1:13.035). Max Verstappen placed fourth in both practices and the Mercedes cars were inconsistent throughout the day.
The most striking thing of the day was the strong crash of Daniel Ricciardo. The winner of the 2018 race was unable to make a timed lap due to the strong crash he had at the beginning of the second practice. Luckily, he did not suffer any physical damage, but his car was badly damaged.
