The Niza fans chant against the memory of the former Nantes player
During the Ligue 1 match Niza-Saint-Étienne, four days after Nantes won the French Cup against Niza, some OGCN fans chanted humiliatingly against the memory of Emiliano Sala, the Argentine forward who died in a plane crash in 2019.
"He's an Argentine who doesn't swim well, Emiliano underwater," chanted a part of the Allianz Riviera crowd in the 9th minute, parodying a chant that Nantes fans sing in honor of their former number 9 in every game and in that same minute.
Because of what happened, one of the leaders of the Niza fan group, from the 'Populaire Sud' stand of the Allianz Riviera, was sanctioned by the club with a ban from entering the stadium.
"As a club, it is our role to sanction those who offend OGC Niza, its public and its image," wrote Jean-Pierre Rivère, president of the club from southern France, expressing a "zero tolerance" message to this "provocation".
The fan who animated the stand will not be able to enter the stadium starting this weekend.
