The captain of Olympique de Marseille, Dimitri Payet, reported this Monday to the authorities the bottle throw he received during a match in Lyon (east) the day before, the Marseille club announced to AFP.

Although he did not file a direct complaint, the club, which confirmed the information reported by RMC Sport, stated that it would be a civil party in the case, which is being investigated by the prosecutor's office of this French city.

The Marseille footballer, "very shocked" by this aggression that led to the definitive suspension of the match against Olympique Lyon on Sunday, consulted the occupational physician at the request of the public ministry.

The bottle throw at Payet when five minutes of the match against Lyon had been played is the latest episode in a series of incidents that are tarnishing the current edition of the French championship.

The French Minister of Sports, Roxana Maracineanu, considered the incident "intolerable" and called for an "immediate awareness" of the clubs to ensure safety on the field and in the stands.

Maracineanu and the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, will meet on Tuesday with the LFP and the French Football Federation (FFF) to see "what can be done" after the incidents on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Sports.
