Fans of Saint-Étienne banned from attending matches
Fans of Saint-Étienne, Miguel Trauco's team, have been banned from accompanying their team for at least the next two matches of this French league season. The decision was made after the disturbances caused in the most recent match against Angers. In that match, fans threw flares onto the field, which caused the start of the match to be delayed by an hour.
Through a statement published on their website, the green squad announced the provisional decision taken by the Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) of France.
"Closed doors completely at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium until the delivery of the final measure (Sunday, November 7) and closure of the Saint-Étienne visiting area for away matches until the final measure is pronounced (Saturday, October 30)," is the punishment that the southeastern French team will have to face.

With this decision, Saint-Étienne will be deprived of the support of its fans for its home matches against Clermont and away matches against Metz. The sanction could be extended depending on what happens in a new hearing scheduled for November 17.
Last Friday, at the start of Matchday 11 of Ligue 1, the saints' supporters threw flares onto the pitch to demand the resignation of coach Claude Puel. It should be noted that the club has collected poor results that place them as the absolute bottom with just five points and no victories so far.
