Sports Mole previews Monday's La Liga clash between Las Palmas and Celta Vigo, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two teams with identical records after seven matches of the 2023-24 La Liga campaign will lock horns on Monday evening, with Las Palmas hosting Celta Vigo.

Both sides have won one, drawn two and lost four of their seven league matches this season to collect five points, with Las Palmas sitting 18th in the table, while Celta occupy 17th.

Las Palmas secured a return to Spain's top flight by finishing second in the Segunda Division last season, and they are bidding to make it back-to-back campaigns at this level for the first time since 2018.

La Union Deportiva have found it difficult to get going so far this season, only picking up five points from seven matches to sit in 18th, and they will enter this game off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.

Las Palmas have lost three of their last four league games, but they were only beaten 1-0 by Girona and Sevilla on their travels before recording a 1-0 victory over Granada in their last game in front of their own supporters.

Garcia Pimienta's side have only actually scored twice this season, which is a real concern, but they incredibly have the joint-second best defensive record with just six conceded, with only Atletico Madrid letting in fewer (five).

Los Amarillos have lost each of their last three league games against Celta, including a 5-2 defeat in the corresponding match during the 2017-18 campaign.

Celta will enter Monday's contest off the back of a 1-1 draw with Alaves on Thursday, with an own goal from Rafa Marin sending the Sky Blues ahead, before Samu levelled in the 73rd minute.

Rafael Benitez's side, as mentioned, have also picked up five points from their seven league games this season, scoring seven goals and conceding 11 in the process.

Celta opened their campaign with a home defeat to Osasuna before claiming a welcome point away to Real Sociedad, but they were then beaten at home by Real Madrid.

Benitez's team were 3-2 winners over Almeria at the start of September, but they have picked up just one point since, losing to Mallorca and Barcelona before the draw with Alaves last time out.

Celta have finished 11th and 13th in their last two campaigns in the top flight, while they have not played outside of La Liga since 2012, so it would be a surprise to see them relegated this term.

Team News

Las Palmas have a lengthy injury list at this moment in time, with Javi Munoz, Omenuke Mfulu, Sandro Ramirez, Benito Ramirez, Alberto Moleiro and Fabio Gonzalez all on the sidelines.

Mika Marmol is back from the suspension that ruled him out against Real Madrid, though, and the 22-year-old is set to be introduced back into the starting side on Monday night.

Injuries for Mfulu and Munoz will open the door for Kirian Rodriguez and Maximo Perrone to come into the side, but Jonathan Viera and Cristian Herrera should retain their starting roles for this contest.

Celta, meanwhile, will again be without the services of midfielder Franco Cervi due to a muscular problem.

The visitors will also not be able to call upon Luca da la Torre, with the 25-year-old being handed a red card in his side's 1-1 draw with Alaves last time out.

Head coach Benitez is expected to resist the temptation to shuffle his pack, with the majority of the players that started on Thursday set to keep their spots, including Iago Aspas, who is yet to score this season.

Renato Tapia, meanwhile, is likely to be the player to benefit from De la Torre's absence here.

Las Palmas possible starting lineup:
Valles; Araujo, Coco, Curbelo, Marmol; El Haddadi, K Rodriguez, Perrone, Viera, Herrera; Kaba

Celta Vigo possible starting lineup:
Villar; Mingueza, Aidoo, Starfelt, Nunez, Ristic; Beltran, Tapia, Bamba; Aspas, Larsen

We say: Las Palmas 0-0 Celta Vigo

Las Palmas have found it so difficult to score this season, but they have been very strong defensively, so we are not expecting this to be a classic. Celta need a result to kickstart their campaign, but we are finding it difficult to separate the two sides in this contest.
