Two headers from Álvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann, in the 4th and 18th minutes, put Atlético Madrid ahead at halftime in the derby against Real Madrid, who reduced the gap with a powerful shot from Toni Kroos ten minutes before halftime.
A blistering start from Atlético Madrid quickly found its reward thanks to a great strike from Morata. With no response from Real Madrid, Griezmann scored the second goal after another cross from the left side. Diego Simeone's team dropped back and awakened the Madrid team with Kroos' goal, his first in 30 derbies. The referee disallowed a goal from Eduardo Camavinga for Rudiger's offside position.
