Different from other transfer markets, FC Barcelona does not have great resources this year to secure the targets it sets on its agenda. Nevertheless, this does not prevent the higher-ups of the blue and red club from signing reinforcements for the first team. In this line, the Catalan team made official on Wednesday the arrival of Íñigo Martínez for the next two seasons, until June 2025, with a release clause of 400 million euros. The player arrives with a free agent status after separating from Athletic Club Bilbao and becomes the second signing of the Spanish team for the upcoming season, after German Ilkay Gundogan.
Born in Ondarroa (Vizcaya) and being 32 years old, Martínez is a left back with extensive experience in LaLiga, first with Real Sociedad and later with Athletic Club Bilbao. In total, he has accumulated more than 350 matches, in which he has scored 22 goals.
