The former footballer Sergio Contreras, better known as Koke, admitted to being the leader of a criminal organization dedicated to buying large quantities of drugs which he later transported by trucks to different European countries.
The former Málaga, Rayo Vallecano, Olympique de Marseille, and Sporting Lisbon striker sat in the dock to acknowledge his role within the gang and was sentenced to a prison term of up to six years, far from the 16 years sought by the Public Ministry.
A total of 17 accused individuals, who were closely linked to this organization, also admitted their involvement and direct participation in the group's activities. His partner and brother were also part of this criminal network.
The judge in the case will issue a sentence soon, but the defendants already know the penalties exposed by the accusation, which will be irrevocable, therefore, they cannot appeal through any legal means.
This organization was characterized by having a high economic wealth that allowed them to obtain large quantities of drugs and logistic warehouses to deposit and store the merchandise.
This is not the first time that the former footballer has been processed by the Spanish justice system due to an accusation involving drug trafficking. Some time ago, Contreras was one of the 20 detained in an operation in which the Civil Guard seized a ton of hashish and several weapons. This event resulted in Koke spending a year and eight months in prison after posting a bail of 15 thousand euros, which allowed him to obtain provisional freedom.
