The Barcelona added their second consecutive draw in LaLiga against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. Getafe created a defensive tangle that the azulgrana team was unable to overcome, hitting the post twice in the first half.
Without Andreas Christensen, Pedri, Frenkie De Jong, or Ousmane Dembélé, four fundamental players in Xavi Hernández's starting eleven, and with Robert Lewandowksi also playing physically injured, the azulgranas faced the match with a reduced squad and immersed in a small slump in results after being eliminated from the Copa del Rey by Real Madrid and drawing with Girona, both matches ending goalless.
Barcelona faced a Getafe side that did not back down and, just four minutes into the match, showed their intentions. It was with a headed shot from Munir, after a cross from Borja Mayoral on the right, that grazed the left post of Ter Stegen's goal.
Shortly after, Sergi Roberto suffered an injury after a challenge with Juan Iglesias. The Barcelona full-back was replaced by Eric García, forcing Xavi to reorganize his defense against the attacking threat of Mayoral and Enes Ünal, who continuously attempted to make runs behind the defense.
The closest Barcelona came to opening the scoring in the first half was with a double chance for Raphinha and Alejandro Balde, both hitting the left post of David Soria's goal. However, that double opportunity for the Catalan team was a mirage of what was to come, as the game was mainly played in midfield with little depth in either penalty area.
In the second half, Barcelona pushed forward and started to create more opportunities in the Getafe defensive zone, but Getafe also showed more incisiveness in their attacking play, especially when they saw that the Catalan side was not causing them much trouble.
